William Joseph Communications

At William Joseph, we are committed to strengthening the communities where we live and work. Like so many businesses, William Joseph started small with large ambitions, so we understand and respect the entrepreneurial spirit. We help support growing businesses in our communities by ensuring that entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations have access to the marketing knowledge and resources they need to succeed. Through initiative aimed at small businesses, we’re able to positively impact our communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan while helping promote a strong, local economy.

Each year, we give one hardworking entrepreneur $15,000 in marketing services through our RPM Project. We know what a difference an investment in marketing can make for a business, and the RPM Project was created to recognize and reward the hard work and dedication of entrepreneurs in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Equipped with sharp, strategic marketing solutions, we want to help ensure our winners are positioned for growth and success.

Over the years, we have had the opportunity to sponsor a number of campaigns and events and are proud to have contributed to initiatives that make a difference in our communities.

Innovate Calgary

William Joseph is thrilled to partner with Innovate Calgary to help share marketing and communications tips and tricks with entrepreneurs and start-ups. We've also joined the advisory team of the TELUS Technology Accelerator, a joint venture between Innovate Calgary and TELUS. The six-month program will showcase and grow Canadian technology start-ups in the telecommunications and health industries. This program aims to enhance a start-up's business model and investment opportunities, and William Joseph is involved in assisting these Canadian technology start-ups with their branding, marketing and communications.

Our charismatic CEO, Ryan Townend, is a regular on Global TV's ADvice segment where he discusses all things marketing. From industry-related trends to marketing best practices, Ryan loves to share his insight with the hopes of inspiring viewers to get creative, get strategic and do great work.

William Joseph with Ad Rodeo

Ad Rodeo’s Student Agency Tours give marketing and design students an opportunity to visit real agencies in Calgary and find out what it’s like to work in the advertising business.

Our agency hosted students from various universities as part of the tour. This video showcases their experience.

On March 2nd, 2017, NABS (National Advertising Benevolent Society) hosted its 6th annual Cannes Lions Reel 2016/17 Screening fundraiser. William Joseph was proud to sponsor the event, by providing NABS with marketing collateral including an e-blast, social media posts and a thank-you logo reel. WJ began by formulating a creative concept based on a classic old-Hollywood vibe, while also having fun with wordplay by incorporating the taglines “Reel-Good” and “Thanks for Reel” throughout. The creative concept was kept simple, which enabled it to be used across a variety of platforms. The event was a huge success, and William Joseph was thrilled to have been given the chance to take part.

NABS provides support and assistance for professionals in the marketing and advertising industry, whether that be through financial assistance, career or personal counselling, or other EAP services. NABS supports Canadian professionals who are facing personal, career and family challenges due to illness, injury, unemployment or financial difficulties.

Edwards School of Business

2017 marks the 100th year since the business school admitted its first class of students. To celebrate the centennial, William Joseph sponsored a marketing campaign to celebrate this momentous year. We crafted a written and visual campaign for the year-long centennial celebration, complete with key messaging and a positioning statement that will work in tandem with the visual articulation of the campaign theme. The common thread linking the past and present for Edwards is the sense of community, citizenship and togetherness that unites its students; we captured this sentiment in the two-part tagline we developed: “Together We Build. Together We Thrive.”

In the past, we’ve also sponsored the William Joseph Communications Case Competition presented by the Marketing Students’ Society. The winners of this annual competition have gained real-world work experience through an internship at our WJ head office, where students learn what agency life is all about.

As a symbol of Calgary's cowboy culture for more than 40 years, Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall Inc. is the city's most celebrated Western bar. After the passing of co-owner Harris Dvorkin a new ownership group was announced that is committed to preserving Harris' legacy and maintaining Ranchman's iconic status. We were ecstatic to finally be able to share the news last week and are very honoured and privileged to work with the new ownership group on the branding and marketing for this iconic venue. Check out some of our work!
